I wrote the first two parts of The 40 Year Freylekhs over a year ago [when frank was ill} and for some reason they became my mantra of waiting for things [him} to get better, especially since I couldn’t find the rest of the tune in my head. In my solo shows I would alternate those two parts with different traditional tunes but I wasn’t ready to share it with the band. One night this summer when [Frank was back in action and] we had had some great concerts, and fabulous rehearsals for this album, my joy and relief spilled out into melody and the other parts poured out. The band felt the celebratory feeling of it, contributed arrangement ideas and it became this tune that I hope brings joy to all.
