In 2006, The Klezmatics transformed previously unrecorded lyrics by Woody Guthrie into Wonder Wheel.
The project grew from a seven-year collaboration with Nora Guthrie and the Woody Guthrie Archive, bringing Guthrie’s words into an entirely new musical world.
THE KLEZMATICS × WOODY GUTHRIE
Rather than recreate the sound traditionally associated with Guthrie, The Klezmatics treated his words as living material — drawing on klezmer and Eastern European Jewish traditions alongside American folk, gospel, Latin, Celtic, Afro-Caribbean and jazz.
Released in 2006, Wonder Wheel won the GRAMMY Award for Best Contemporary World Music Album.

Twenty years later, Wonder Wheel: 20th Anniversary Edition expands the original 12-song album to 19 tracks, adding seven archival recordings from The Klezmatics’ years-long Guthrie collaboration.
The anniversary edition arrives digitally, on expanded CD and, for the first time ever, on vinyl as a 2LP set.
Released as The Klezmatics celebrate 40 years together, the anniversary edition brings one of the defining recordings of their career back into the present.
